We have some big changes on the horizon. For starters, our sweet little house [our first house!] is up for sale. We’ve gone through our stuff, sorting and cleaning, choosing what to part with, and what to take with us. Baking and cooking have been on the back burner. Our house must stay so clean, so others can walk through it, critique it, pass on it.
I stared at my screen last night, trying to write words to a post about a rhubarb cake, and I was completely uninspired. My heart was still in this warm sun shower, singing and dancing under umbrellas with my children, reveling in summer’s glory.
And this is summer to me: simple moments, simple food. Spending less time in the kitchen, and more time outside. At the beach. In the sun. As Melissa put so well, summer is a time ‘to lose yourself. And find yourself all over again.’

June July and August said, ‘It’s probably hard to plan ahead.’
June July and August said, ‘It’s better to bask in each other.’
Gatekeeper, seasons wait for your nod.
Gatekeeper, you held your breath, made the summer go on and on.
[I can’t help it, I’ve got Feist on my mind.]

Thursday, June 7, 2012 at 11:31 pmI keep finding it hard to put into words how much I appreciate your perspective and this space week after week. Even with simpler ideas like the passing of summer and simple togetherness, you hit it right on the head for me. Thank you for all the loveliness, Sarah 🙂
